Determined to make a change, hai anh em quyết tâm chế tạo máy. From manual weaving frames, these two farmers researched, designed, built models, and gradually created a complete weaving machine.
Nguyên shared: “We worked many sleepless nights, skipped meals to build the model of the weaving machine. We faced failures because traditional weaving frames are horizontal, while we wanted to create a vertical weaving machine with many superior features. Despite the criticisms from our families, who thought it was a waste of time, we were determined. In July 2006, the vertical weaving machine was born.”
The weaving machine made by these two farmers consists of main components such as the rollers, the weaving frame, the coconut leaf pressing table, the motor, the control system… The machine’s frame is made of wood, designed to reduce noise and vibrations when operating. The machine is equipped with a 1.1kW electric motor.
The daily weaving capacity of this machine (working for 8 hours) is about 12-13 mats, six times more efficient than manual weaving. The selling price of each weaving machine is around 10 million VND. Currently, Phong and Nguyên’s mechanical workshop is focused on producing weaving machines to sell to dozens of customers within and outside the district.
Trần Thị Việt, the director of Việt Trang, a company specializing in producing and exporting handicraft coconut products, said: “Nguyên and Phong’s weaving machine produces beautiful, flat mats. It saves electricity, is easy to use, and safe.”
Recently, Nguyên and Phong submitted a patent registration application for their weaving machine to the Department of Science and Technology in Thanh Hóa province.
After successfully creating a medium-sized weaving machine, these two farmers also successfully developed a wide-width weaving machine. This machine can weave mats with a width of 1.5 meters, and it can continuously weave mats, automatically rolling and releasing them (similar to fabric weaving machines). The selling price of this machine is over 10 million VND. This is the first time a wide-width and high-productivity weaving machine has appeared on the market.
